James Rae sings for Wirral homeless charity (12.2.09)

PR consultant James Rae took to the stage last weekend (7/2/09) to help raise funds for homeless people on the Wirral.

The part-time singer songwriter, who by day provides communications advice and support to a number of Northwest and national clients, performed with his five-piece band The Firewalkers at a charity concert for the Wirral Churches Ark Project.

Established in 1992, The Ark provides accommodation, advice and support to homeless people in Birkenhead, one of the UK’s most deprived wards.

The concert in Hoylake, which also featured Wirral rock group White Horse, raised over £600 for the project.

James Rae to speak at national communications conference (5/11/08)

James Rae is to speak at a national conference for communications professionals on the subject of crisis management.

Over the last 20 years James has been involved in managing organizational responses to a wide variety of ‘high risk’ news stories from disgruntled customers contacting the press through to contaminated land scares, resident protest campaigns, redundancy programmes, accidental deaths, murder and even terrorism.

He will share some of these experiences with around 100 delegates who are expected to attend the National Housing Federation’s Communications and Marketing Conference at the Hotel Russell, London on 24 February 2009.

Liverpool Poet Jack, 90, turns Demolition Man...and TV star! (5/8/08)

Our PR campaign to publicise a new extra care housing scheme for older people made an unexpected TV star of 90 year old Liverpool poet, Jack Mantle.

Working with clients Cosmopolitan Housing Association, we launched a competition to find a local resident who could help demolish an unsightly block of flats in Huyton to make way for the new £2.3m development.

We launched a competition for older people in the area to write a short poem on The Joys of Growing Older. The winner was Jack Mantle, a life long amateur poet and Huyton resident.

Watched by local dignitaries, partners and media, Jack donned a high visibility jacket and hard hat and rang a bell to order a JCB to demolish the final part of the building.

His Demolition Man role made the local press and the lunchtime and evening news bulletins on local TV and radio and provided all involved with a memorable day.

New Identity for Moor Nook (15/10/08)

A new corporate identity for Moor Nook Estate Management Board was unveiled to tenants and partners at its AGM in Preston this week.

James Rae Communications has been working with the Moor Nook Board for several months, exploring a range of design options and a final design has now been agreed and formally launched.

We are now working with Moor Nook on plans for extending the corporate identity into corporate literature, stationery and signage.

Moor Nook EMB is a tenant led organisation that is working with Preston’s Community Gateway to take on the management of some 850 former council homes in the Ribbleton area of Preston.

Seddon stand is best in its class! (20/6/08)

We were delighted that our exhibition stand for Seddon Group Ltd was named Best Medium Size Stand at the Chartered Institute of Housing Conference and Exhibition 2008.

The national conference in Harrogate is one of the key dates in the social housing calendar. It incorporates Europe’s largest social housing conference with over 380 exhibitors and attendance in excess of 6,500 visitors.

Given the size of this event, the award is quite an achievement and we’d like to congratulate Seddon Group and also our partners for this event, JWG Creative Media, Scalextric Exhibition Stands and Global Displays.

The stand was designed to be clean, bright and welcoming with strong branding for Seddon, some simple messages about their offering and a very popular interactive Scalextric challenge to engage passers by.

This year the track was set within a mini model village, designed to reflect the company’s strong commitment to the environment, resident consultation and building sustainable communities.
