Milton Court sheltered housing scheme celebrates 25 years (29/09/2011)

Residents, staff and neighbours from Milton Court sheltered housing scheme in Burnage came together last week (29/9) to celebrate the scheme’s 25th Anniversary.

Councillors Bev Craig, Carl Austin and Bill Fisher from Manchester City Council opened the celebration at 12 noon with a presentation of flowers to scheme manager Sandra Lanata and resident Elsie Bradley (86) who has resided at Milton Court since it opened in 1986.

A buffet lunch and entertainment were provided and by Guinness Northern Counties and organised by Housing Officer Andrew Margrave. Speaking at the event, Andrew said: “It is great to see everyone enjoying the entertainment and food and making the 25th anniversary special. Here’s to another 25 years at Milton Court.”

Elsie Bradley said at the celebration: “Thank you for my lovely gift, thank you for such a great day.”

Councillors took the opportunity to have a tour of the facilities and gardens at the scheme as well as spending time talking to residents.

Milton Court is home to 35 residents over the age of 50 and comprises 28 individual properties. The scheme is managed by Guinness Northern Counties.
