Leeds resident is recognised as ‘Number One Neighbour’ by his landlord.(14/11/2011)

A housing association tenant from Leeds has been named the ‘Number One Neighbour’ by his landlord Guinness Northern Counties at a ceremony held at the Leeds Hilton Hotel.

Mr Eddie Webster, a 67 year old retired joiner, has been a resident of Gomersall House for over 55’s in Drighlington for six years. He can often be found doing odd jobs for his neighbours at the scheme, from changing light bulbs and hanging pictures to laying wood flooring and creating a new patio area for everyone to enjoy.

Eddie was presented with his award by Penny Bayley, Guinness Northern Counties’ Director of Customer Services, at an awards ceremony for customers of the local housing provider, which owns and manages over 26,000 homes across the North of England.

On receiving his award, Eddie said: “I am honoured; I feel like I am on cloud nine and am slowly coming down.”
